How was Paul's attack of Marc Blair the same as Paul's attack of Rashad

I don't see a similarity other than the violence. Marc Blair was the boy that Paul Galuzzo beat up in order to defend Quinn from being bullied and physically attacked. The attack on Rashad was racially motivated.
