James Holden

James Holden is the captain of the Rocinante, leader of the crew of the Rocinante, a former corvette of the Martian Navy. A character with high ideals, the center of major events. Holden carries within himself an extremely strong sense of justice, along with a stubborn belief in doing the right thing. Holden plays an indispensable role, an extremely important role, in navigating the mysterious portal to the other universe beyond the portal.

Clarissa Mao

Clarissa Mao, also known as "Peaches," is a new character introduced in "Abaddon's Gate." She is the daughter of Jules-Pierre Mao, a wealthy and influential figure involved in the events of the previous novels. Clarissa is driven by a deep desire for revenge against Holden, whom she blames for her family's downfall. Her path intertwines with the Rocinante crew as she becomes involved in the events surrounding the gate.

Bull

Michio Pa, nicknamed "Bull," is a tough and no-nonsense security chief on the Behemoth, a massive colony ship sent to investigate the gate. Bull is a Belter and deeply committed to the welfare of his people. He becomes an important ally to the Rocinante crew and plays a crucial role in the events that unfold in the story.

Anna Volovodov

Anna Volovodov is a Methodist pastor who joins the crew of the Rocinante on their journey through the gate. She is a compassionate and empathetic character, offering moral guidance and support to those around her. Anna becomes involved in the unfolding events and plays a pivotal role in bridging the divide between different factions.

Joe Miller

Joe Miller is a top detective who works closely with James Holden to uncover the mysteries of the alien structure commonly known as the ring. Miller knows the dangers surrounding the alien structure and advises Holden to take maximum precautions during the expedition.

Naomi Nagata

Naomi Nagata serves as Holden's trusted second-in-command and the Rocinante's chief engineer. She brings a level-headed pragmatism to the crew, balancing Holden's idealism with practicality and expertise. Nagata is a skilled technician and strategist, often finding creative solutions to the challenges they face. As the story unfolds, she grapples with her own past and struggles to find her place in a universe fraught with danger and uncertainty.

Amos Burton

Amos Burton, the Rocinante's mechanic, is a complex and enigmatic character. He is fiercely loyal to his crewmates, particularly Holden, whom he views as a surrogate family. Despite his rough exterior, Amos possesses a keen intelligence and a deep sense of empathy, often serving as a moral compass for the crew. Throughout the novel, he confronts his own demons and wrestles with questions of identity and purpose.

Alex Kamal

Alex Kamal is the Rocinante's skilled pilot, known for his calm demeanor and steady hand. He brings a sense of levity to the crew, often serving as a source of humor and camaraderie. Despite his easygoing nature, Alex grapples with his own insecurities and fears, particularly as the dangers posed by the Ring escalate. Throughout the novel, he confronts his own mortality and struggles to find meaning in a universe teetering on the brink of chaos.
