What does Harrison's declaration as he frees himself from his shackles show us about power? About liberation?

"I shall now select my Empress!" he said, looking down on the cowering people. "Let the first woman who dares rise to her feet claim her mate and her throne!"

Harrison's declaration reflects the singularity of his position..... for one fleeting moment he is in complete control of his own life. His position of power also serves to inspire other to follow his lead. Liberation is portrayed as joy and beauty..... only to be quickly snuffed out by the firing of a gun.
