    Equiano elects to return to the West Indies, but is troubled this time by his lack of access to the spiritual life he had started in London. On the Central American shore where he and Dr. Irving were setting up their plantation, there were no churches, and they were living amongst the Musquito tribes, whom Equiano describes as heathenous.
