Answer

The perineum is a diamond shaped area between the thighs. . It is borderded anteriorly by the pubis synphysis, posteriorly by the coccyx, and laterally by the ischial tuberosities. The floor of the pelvic cavity is formed by the levator ani muscle and it is penetrated by the anus, vagina, and the urethra. The urinogenital canal is the anterior half of the perineum. the ana triangle is the poaterior half. The urinogenital canal is divided into to muscle compartments , which are separated by the strong fibrous perineal membrane: 1. The superficial perineal space is the muscle compartment between the perineal membrane and the skin 2. The deep perineal space is the compartment between the perineal membrane and the levator ani.

Work Step by Step

In the superficial perineal space there are three pairs of muscles: The ischiocavernosus, the bulbospongiosus, and the superficial transverse perineal. Also in the superficial perineal space are the clitoris, sexual glands, erectile genital tissues. Adipose tissue in this area fattens the moms pubis and the labia majora The anal triangle contains the external genital sphincter, anococcygeal ligament. The anal sphincter is a tubular muscle surrounding surrounding he lower anal canal . The anococcygeal ligament is a medial insertion of the of the levator ani muscle, which inserts on to the coccyx forming a the major anchorage of the structures of the pelvic floor.
