It is often said that war makes children grow up faster. Is it true for Sookan and her brother Inchun?

Sookan and her brother, Inchun, have both been forced to grow-up quicker as a result of their experiences. The oppression they've lived under has taught them the necessity of self-sacrifice, hard work, and the very real reaction to a hunger they cannot ignore. Sookan must be both mother and sister to Inchun, as no matter how much older he sometimes seems..... he is still a child of six.
