Heathcliff is moved by Lockwood's dreams because they include his beloved Catherine. He is totally thrown off guard and shocked beyond words when Lockwood speaks of his dream and describes Catherine crying at the window. After hearing Lockwood's words, Heathcliff gives way to his emotion and begs Catherine's spirit to return to him.
