In Chapter Ten, Beans runs into Palmer and Dorothy playing near the soccer field and learns that they aren't going to the Pigeon Shoot. Even though he's too young, Beans runs to the field where he picks up the wounded birds. He is eventually run off by the legitimate wringers.
