Willa of the Wood Background

Willa of the Wood Background

Robert Beatty is a prolific American novelist. Although Willa of the Wood is his fourth book - and the first in the eponymous Willa - it is without a doubt his most well-known work. A fantasy novel, Willa of the Wood tells the story of the young and orphaned Willa, a night spirit and talented thief for an ancient clan of people called Faeran. Not only is Willa extremely talented; she possesses tremendous ancient forest powers - the powers of her people.

One day, when Willa gets hurt and is stranded amongst humans, a group of people whom she despises. Because of this, she is forced to spend time with the humans and begins to discover that the human people are not as wholesale evil as she had thought. With this knowledge in mind, she also discovers that her clan is falling apart and that she must figure out who she truly is if she wants to save her home from surefire destruction.

Willa of the Wood was an instant bestseller when it was released in 2018. Because of this, it is being adapted into a television series by actress Amy Adams' production company Bond Group. No release date has been announced.
