What significance is Lord Alfred to the plot.
After all he is only a dead (smelly) body. Why use his name. I waited in anticipation for him to rise again in a subplot.

He's just a part of the introduction. We have the dogs, and we have the wolves. Lord Alfred's small procession brings them altogether. He really has no significance............ he's just a part of the setting.
