Why did Mary want to kill most of her family

Merricat is basically a sociopath, and suffers no remorse for killing her family; she is able to talk easily about it, in a matter-of-fact kind of way, rather than trying to hide it. However, since only Constance knows that it was she who poisoned the family, she is not quite as hated by the townspeople as her sister.
