Patriotism, although the love the citizens had for their country was not a cause of WWI. Britain's entry into WWI was directly related to alliances that had been formed with other countries, as well as increased militarism is certain countries. The best example of this would be the increase of Germany and England's sea power or navies, and the spread of Imperialism.
