Scene with Joe and Edna

I have to tell you, I'm really not sure. I pulled up all of the possible definition for this acronym, and the only one that would make any sense is Anterior and Posterior....... which would translate the front and the back. This really doesn't make any sense but works if we perceive Edna as sarcastic, which for the most part..... she is.

The A&P was a supermarket chain. Edna is saying that Joe's excuses about not being able to pick up customers for five hours isn't going to buy groceries for the family.
