How does this new information change how you understand the story?

The final information leads us to question our earlier belief. The wife's characters demonstrates the way we, as readers, can easily be led astray from the truth through the power of subtle suggestions. The author writes, “Then one time when I was walking in the woods I met him by himself coming back from a hunting trip…” (273). Readers come to their own conclusions about the husband, because the wife, with whom we form a bond, shares that perspective.
