What feelings & emotions was Stowe trying to appeal to in her readers?

I think that Stowe was trying to illicit pathos and compassion within white readers at the time. She wanted to put faces and stories to the savagery that was slavery. She wanted white Americans to be incensed enough to support the abolition movement.
