Why did solomon go with brown and hamilton?

Why would he go with them considering the time and place? The two men were unknown to him and they were also taking solomon into slave territory

Solomon was offered a traveling musician's job and went to Washington, D.C. (where slavery was legal); there he was drugged, kidnapped, and sold as a slave. Solomon really wanted a job playing music and these men seemed trustworthy.
