This depends on how you feel about what Mrs. Wright did. She was obviously abused by her husband and the dead bird provides a clear motive for dispatching of Mr. Wright. I'm inclined to be more sympathetic to Mrs. Wright's plight than the death of her husband. It seemed her husband was a monster and both women attending the scene understood this.
