What is it hinting at?

Long John Silvers tavern is named spyglass. Where have we heard his name before? Assuming the name is an example of foreshadowing, what is it hinting at? Please answer ASAP.

Spyglasses were used by sailors to spot things from far off: things like dry land. The tavern was also a place for silver to spot unwanted people like the press-gang or enemies from far off. A press-gang was the name given to a group of sailors who'd lurk around the docks looking for potential crewmates for a voyage. Often drunk patrons would find themselves working on one of the KIng's ships.
