Why do you think Stevenson chooses a boy to narrate this tale?

Stevenson's use of a boy as narrator was actually brilliant. Jim is innocent, his outlook is fresh, he is growing, changing, and becoming a man before our eyes. Most importantly, we come to care for him, and we come to see the other characters through his eyes..... which affects our perspective when it comes to characters like Silver.
