What does the policeman do to Raphael to try and get him to talk?

At first they are nice to Rapheal but once he starts lying a lot, he is hit. ‘That’s a lie,’ said the policeman, and he came at me from the side. I don’t know where he hit me or what with, but I was knocked to the floor.
