Does Cole want to leave the island the second time that he comes back?

I could be wrong, but reading the second part (Chapters 14-28) was kind of making it sound like Cole enjoyed the island a little bit. This questions may sound like a no-brainer, but the more i think about it, the more i question it.

Cole came to enjoy the island, as well as the healing process. His second trip to the island came from Cole's needs and desires..... he wasn't faking it or lying about wanting to change..... which is in essence, the beginning of change.
