Describe Cole’s first experience with the spirit bear. Is he learning anything?

Cole hated the Spirit Bear and threw rocks at it. The Spirit Bear was not intimidated by Cole. This confused Cole. He was unable to scare or manipulate the bear. What worked for Cole in the human world did not work for Cole in the animal world. Cole was completely subject to nature's rules and was totally dominated by the bear.
