Poky

Small, cramped and rundown; ramshackled.

quarantine

Confined in isolation.

Flat

An apartment.

Contradiction

When something is in conflict with itself; an incongruity or paradox

Alcove

A recessed cubicle or compartment for light storage

Imprisoned

To have been detained against one’s will or incarcerated.

Parcel

A package, usually smallish in size

Instantaneously

Done or accomplished immediately.

Determination

The willpower or fortitude to accomplish a goal or task

Dissuade

To talk someone out of doing something; the opposite of persuade

Oblige

To gratify someone or to be compelled or forced to gratify

Goad

To coerce without physical force or exertion

Absorption

One’s preoccupation, fascination or compulsive interest in something

Pierced

To be stabbed through with a sharp blade

Murmur

A low whispering effect, often applied to more than one voice speaking at a time

Hedge

A tended growth of shrubbery or vegetation

Slatted

Having been fitted with lengths of board or planks

Amiss

When something is wrong or out of place

Improprieties

Indiscretions or a list of improper—though not necessarily illegal—behavior

Feign
