It has been so long since I read this but I recall thinking it was interesting for its time. The memories are from a woman's perspective in a male dominated world. Virginia Woolf was famous for that. I really like how time is dealt with in select memories. These are the memories that, at the time feel small, but make up who we are. The plot is simple enough; the Ramsay family has guests who come to stay with them at their vacation home on the Hebrides Islands in Scotland. The different memories that ebb and flow around this experience is really what this book is about though. I like that!
