Why does Uncle Jack Finch say to Scout act like a lady?

She says two 'inappropriate words' and they are not ok to say. Why does uncle jack finch say to scout act like a lady in to kill a mockingbird?

Uncle Jack is operating under the constraints of gender identity of the time. He tells her she shouldn't be wearing overalls/pants and should wear dresses instead. This is his view of gender stereotypes at the time.
