Aunt Alexandra is portrayed as a woman who is cold and heartless. But only to a point..... as the novel progresses, we can see that for all of Alexandra's negative qualities...... her coldness, prejudice, and sense of superiority, she does stand behind her brother, make good decisions, and finally provide a kind of modeling that Scout can look up to.
