What does Lee illustrate with Scout's pity for Mayella?

Scout felt that Mayella was a victim. She saw that Mayella was alone on the stand and clearly manipulated and used by her father in the worst ways possible. Mayella is sad, depressed and completely alone. Scout thought Mayella was "the lonliest person in the world."
