To Kill a Mockingbird

What did Jem, Dill and Scout give in return to the gifts Boo Radley gave them?

“Boo was our neighbor. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbors give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made me sad.”

How do I prove that they gave him the gift of friendship?

The only tangible friendship given can be seen can be seen at the end of the book when Scout says "hey Boo". This short greeting holds a lot of meaning. Scout has matured since the beginning of the book and now sees Boo as a friend who has been looking after them. She then takes his hand and guides him home.
