Miss Gates says, "That's the difference between America and Germany. We are a democracy and Germany is a dictatorship...Over here we don't believe in persecuting anybody. Persecution comes from people who are prejudiced..." What is ironic about the speech to Scout's class given by Miss Gates?

Scout is all too aware of the fact that blacks, like Tom Robinson, are persecuted in their own community.
