I don't think that I'm overstating that Atticus really is the book. Atticus is a character who personifies all that is good and just in people.Atticus gets along with people by trying to see life from their perspective. He tells his children to "to climb into someone's skin and walk around in it" before they pass judgment. Atticus demonstrates this trait with many characters in the novel.
