To Kill a Mockingbird

In the beginning of chapter 7, Scout mentions that old Mrs. Radley died but her death "caused hardly a ripple" in the neighborhood. Why was this case?

He was such a recluse that nobody cared.

The Radleys didn't socialize in the neighborhood........... no one ever saw her do anything except to sweep the front porch. She was almost invisible.
