Why do people mistreat eachother due to their skin colour, race or religion?
This is a pretty broad question. In relation to Tom Robinson, we are really examining generations of racism especially from the days of slavery and bitterness from the South losing the Civil War. Most white people in the South still held blacks in low esteem which is why they would take Bob Ewell's word, a known drunk and louse, over Tom Robinson.
