In chapter 28 why is it important that scout doesnt identify the resuer

If Scout and Atticus and Heck Tate identify the rescuer, they will be bringing Arthur "Boo" Radley into the open. Ladies would bring him cakes and food for doing something heroic and this would be a terrible thing for Boo. Scout even mentions that it'd be like "killing a mockingbird."
