Scout wants to know why Mr. Cunningham wanted to hurt Atticus at the court house, "I thought Mr. Cunningham was a friend of hours?"

In Atticus's usual way, he gently commends the children for putting Mr. Cunningham in his (Atticus's) shoes to make him realize what he was doing.
