The African Americans lived in a segregated section of Maycomb. The civil war was long over but not forgotten, especially in the South. Many of the blacks in Maycomb were descended from slave families brought from Africa. The blacks in Maycomb lived in poverty. They literally had nothing. As a community they did their best. They build cozy huts for families both nuclear and extended. They kept them clean and respectable. They held menial labor jobs (picking cotton, fruit....) or worked for white families in the town (ex. Calpurnia). They had an old community church where they worshiped and helped each other.

Bro, how do you the answer to everything??????
