In my opinion, it was good for the children to be at the trial. In their everyday lives, the children faced the trial and defended their father's defense of Tom regularly. Attending the trial allowed them to understand first hand what was transpiring without having to hear it second hand. Children should also understand their parent's chosen vocations. Certain jobs force people to bring their work home them whether they like it or not..... both emotionally and physically. Often, children need to know where these emotions originate.
