To Kill a Mockingbird

Chapter 8 Question

Once you've finised the chapter, go back and look at the portion that describes Jem and Scout's snowman, which is covered with white snow on the outside, but has a core of dark mud. Symbolically connect the snowman to either Mr. Avery (go beyond the "Morphodite's" physical similarity to Mr. Avery) or Boo Radley. How could the snowman be seen as a symbol for one of these men?

Mr. Avery keeps Boo living in darkness... Boo is like the light, the darkness on the inside represents his confinement. Note, this is my opinion.
