It was dark and a little cold. I imagined they were among trees. They heard noises. Scout really could not see through the metal mesh of her ham costume. Bob Ewell attacked Scout but her costume saved her from the knife. She probably didn't really know what was happening as she rolled around in the dirt. Jem tried to help her and got his arm broken. Boo Radley came to their rescue.
