To Kill a Mockingbird

Atticus states, “We all know that all men are not created equal in the sense that some people would have us believe.” What does he mean? Where are all men created equal and where are they not, according to Atticus? What do you think?

Atticus knows that although men should be thought of as equal, people generally do not see this. Racism, bigotry and hate cloud people's judgments making some people like Tom Robinson suffer because of the colour of his skin.
