What changed about the old man?

What changed about him? Like, during the part when his fire went out twice, his fingers and hands numb from the cold, and the wolf stalking the man.

How does London use imagery to describe the main character to the readers?

There is no old man in "To Build a Fire." You might want to check your questions and make sure you're referring to the correct text.
