To Build a Fire

How do you support the stereotypes?

Example of how/when these stereotypes show up? Can you find moments in your chosen text that expose the problems with these stereotypes?

I have to say that stereotypes isn't really a running theme in this story. The "newcomer" (the man) is perhaps a stereotype of a man who thinks himself above or stronger than what nature can throw at him. This stereotype, however, has limits. He gets in over his head until it is too late. The man makes the mistake of forging on in the frigid temperatures but I'm reluctant to call this a stereotype.
