The dog born with the original sin shows his love for social life in the last nine chapters. He meets and gets into fights with other dogs; his curiosity is assuaged by his meeting with the kettle; he comes off the second best in this battle as he does in his face-off with the cat at Marlow. Montmorency, however, proves his worth when he answers to the call of the weary Ji, and Geroge at Henley. Like his master, he dislikes cold weather and concurs with their decision to abort the trip because of inclement weather.
