Three Kings Irony

Three Kings Irony

Saddam worries more about the rebels than about the gold.

Saddam is more concerned with subduing the rebellion. He does not care for the Kuwaiti gold anymore. Instead, he directs his troops to assist the Americans in loading up their trucks with the gold, so that they leave him in peace to destroy the rebellion.

US military in charge!

Conrad Vig speaks these words as his fellow officers are busy raiding the bunker for Kuwaiti gold. Outside the bunker, the civilians and the rebels liberated by Major Archie are rounded up and beaten by Saddam's troops. Vig tries to assert his dominance over the situation by reiterating his commands, but they are blatantly ignored by the troops as they continue to beat the rebels.

Leaving a prisoner in a room full of phones

When Troy Barlow is captured by Saddam's troops, he is incarcerated in a small storage room. Filled with anguish, Troy starts kicking around the boxes lying in the room. He hits the jackpot when, upon breaking a box, he comes across dozens of wireless phones. He immediately calls for help. He is unable to reach the army offices; thus, he decides to call his wife and shares with her his location.

Needing a vehicle of some kind.

When Major Archie, along with the help of Amir, leads the procession of rebels to the nearby headquarter of the allies, he tells their chief that they are in need of some vehicles. In a desert in Iraq, in the middle of nowhere, the headquarter chief leads them to a garage filled with the most luxurious and expensive cars in the whole world. However, he refuses to lend any of those cars. Ultimately, Major Archie has to buy a few with the help of the Kuwaiti gold.

The deception - Saddam is coming

With the caravan of expensive cars at their disposal, Major Archie and Amir decide to deceive the Iraqi troops. They plan to portray the caravan of cars as an entourage of Saddam Hussein himself. They spread the rumor that Saddam is going to kill the troops for their negligence. So, upon seeing a procession of expensive cars, the troops are led to believe that it is Saddam himself who is arriving. They abandon their posts and flee.
