Thirteen Reasons Why

Does Bryce receive the tapes after all?

I'm a little confused right now. At first I was sure that Bryce wouldn't receive the tapes because he would just leave town, as Hannah explained. But then he gets the tape before Mister Porter's / after Jenny's tape. I know that neither Bryce's nor Jessica's names are mentioned in the tape about Jessica's rape. So, if Bryce is not supposed to receive the tapes, how can Hannah be sure that Jenny knows not to send them to him? But this deosn't make sense, right? Because she can't be sure. So, if Bryce is supposed to get the tapes after all, how can Hannah be sure that Bryce still won't skip town? Does she think that what he did to her (Hannah) simply wasn't as important to him? (I mean I know he didn't rape Hannah, but still). To me it just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to be sending the tapes to Bryce.

Hopefully this excerpt will help.

It’s Bryce. It has to be. Bryce Walker was in that room.
And with the bass thumping, no one heard him walking across the room. Walking across the room. Getting on the bed. The bedsprings screaming under his weight. No one heard a thing.
And I could have stopped it. If I could have talked. If I could have seen. If I could have thought about anything, I would have opened those doors and stopped it.
But I didn’t. And it doesn’t matter what my excuse was. That my mind was in a meltdown is no excuse. I have no excuse. I could have stopped it—end of story. But to stop it, I felt like I’d have to stop the entire world from spinning. Like things had been out of control for so long that whatever I did hardly mattered anymore.
And I couldn’t stand all the emotions anymore. I wanted the world to stop…to end.
For Hannah, the world did end. But for Jessica, it didn’t. It went on. And then, Hannah hit her with these tapes.

No, it doesn't really help, because the question was whether Bryce receives the tapes after all. Because the tape after Jenny's belongs to Bryce and Hannah mentions his name and talks to him as if he will be listening. She didn't mention his name on Justin's second tape (the tape you quoted), but he still sexually assaulted Hannah on the tape after Jenny's. Maybe even had sex with her. So it seems as if he receives the tapes after all. But this doesn't seem to make sense to me, because even if his name isn't mentioned on Justin's second tape, his name is on the 12th tape. And if Hannah thinks he will skip town and break the chain if he gets the tapes (with his name also being mentioned when it comes to Jessica's rape), why would she be sending them to him at all? Even if his name isn't mentioned on Justin's second tape, doesn't she think he will skip town and break the chain when he receives the tapes and his name is on the 12th tape? Because I doubt that he would send them to Mr. Porter.

I'm very late to the party, I found this while looking for a quote from the book, anyway I do think he does receive the tapes because of touching Hannah, she says that if she sent them to him he would skip town cause everyone would know he raped Jessica, but since she never said on the tape it was him, no one will know aside from him and Justin, and Bryce already knows that Justin knows since he let him in, and Hannah won't tell anyone since she's dead, so I think yes he's mentioned as the guy touching Hannah and will be in the list for that, and will probably send the tapes to mr. Porter, and nobody will find out he's the rapist. She still wanted him to hear everything but couldn't out him for the rape. Clay knows it's him because he knows him, maybe others will get to the same conclusion, but since Hannah never said it out loud, there's no proof, unless someone sues Justin for being complicit and then Justin would have to give up Bryce, but with all that they've done, I doubt anyone on those tapes will ever go public, even Jessica. And Bryce knows that, so while he'll be unnerved, he's technically "safe".

Just finished reading the book last night, so it's fresh in my memory
