. Joe is the king of the porch in this chapter. (Once again, note the porch.) What is Janie doing while Joe entertains the crowd? What is he talking about, and how is he talking?

I assume you're talking about the second meeting on the porch? If so, Joe is looking for the town to elect a mayor.... something he believes himself perfect for. Janie, the dutiful wife, stands quietly by his side. Joe makes a speech about "a woman's place", and though his speech upsets Janie, she smiles through it.
