The Yellow Wallpaper

The speaker is immediately awed by the majestic beauty of the house and considers herself lucky to be able to spend the summer living there. However, she still finds “something queer” about the house.

A colonial mansion, a hereditary estate, I would say a haunted house, and reach the height of romantic felicity- but that would be asking too much of fate!

Still I will proudly declare that there is something queer about it.
