Here's a hint: What usually comes in yellow bricks in "our" world? Well, that's what they use as paving in Oz. The Tin Man is the factory worker, the Scarecrow the farmer, and wasn't the lion supposed to be the timid Union man? If the wizard, who is all smoke and mirrors, is supposes to be symbol for wall street you start to get the idea that money isn't the "thing" in Oz. So what is? Well, that is for you to find out, isn't it? wink, wink, hint, hint.
