Yeat's love poems are unequaled. His language is elegant and lyrical. Many of his love poems are whimsical, and many were a direct result of his immense love for Maud Gonne. Unfortunately, much of his emotion stems from the fact that she refused each of his marriage proposals over a twenty-five year period of time. His love was doomed from the start...... but through his poetry we live the emotions and great disappointment he experienced.
