Has The Wave had a positive or negative effect on the football team? Explain your answer.

The boys, at first, believe that the rules and community building that seem to be a benefit of the Wave will help their football team be more unified and will, in fact, help them win a football game over the upcoming weekend. However, they do not win their game, and they become more and more involved in such degrading activities as bullying. Ultimately, they are shown that they acted just like the Nazis under Hitler.
