Robert Ross wouldn't be considered a traditional hero, but his courage, determination, and willingness to help others are each heroic traits. None-the-less, you also need to consider his actions as a soldier. Robert tended to ignore the orders of his commanding officers, something that easily could have resulted in injury to others, but he also valued life...... loved his family, and often put himself out for the welfare of others. Thus, based on his actions as a soldier, I cannot deem him a war hero..... but I can say with complete certainty that he was seen as a hero by many he interacted with along the way
